Set in the dystopian future of 2037, THE THAMBIGALS takes place in a broken version of Chennai transformed into “Neo-Chennai,” a corporate-political surveillance state ruled by propaganda, fear, and celebrity worship. The entire state is dominated by the political empire of AVK — Ajay Vellum Kazhagam — led by the charismatic superstar-politician Ajay, who is adored by millions as Tamil Nadu’s savior.
